S W London ICB is working with NHS London Procurement Partnership and London Diabetes Clinical Network to produce a pan-London document for Implementation of NICE NG17

16/08/2022

Received a reply to my question regarding the progress of implementing NICE NG17:
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guidance for adults with type 1 diabetes (NG17) changed in 2022 to include recommendations for access to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technologies for all adults living with type 1 diabetes. South West London ICB is working with NHS London Procurement Partnership and London Diabetes Clinical Network to produce a pan-London document which aims to support NG17, empowering informed choice of device for adults with type 1 diabetes, ensuring equitable access for all groups and considering clinical characteristics that may be important for the safety and effectiveness of CGM technologies.

A companion implementation document will be produced for CGM access for Children and Young People living with type 1 diabetes as well as for people with type 2 diabetes who meet the updated NICE guidance criteria.

Implementation advice for general practice, specialist diabetes teams and people living with diabetes, will be circulated as soon as it is agreed by the London team and SWL team.
